Like Drugs?

so, basically, they're saying, arrest my drug dealer for selling all that coke and weed, but don't arrest me for buying it... i think many people when polled like the concept... but governments don't seem to be into that... probably because they make more money off the court system with a larger potential base of litigation. Not to mention they rake in the tax dollars per inmate...

lol @ shadow

lol @ shadow.

I'm sure there will be millions more like you. Or like another poster mentioned, wifi cracking is incredibly simple. It's also a legal grey area I believe.

How the DEA altered by torrenting

This act was really well throught out.
Since this has been brought in I have subscribed to a VPN. This costs me money and I make damned sure I get my worth from it. As a consequence I'm downloading about 10X more than I was before the act.
Well done guys.

yeah, that works.

bet those moralfags who preach against piracy won't like it when I crack their wifi and leech off public torrents to get their isp's to shut them down then.

When they talked about shutting down unlawful websites...

were those teenagers smirking for some reason?

torrent files are only 10s of KBs. I would imagine that a properly made distributed system for allowing people to search for torrents wouldn't need a website at all.

Release yourself from the puppet show and open youyr eyes!

This is an act anyways, A little thing about the difference of LAW and LEGAL, COMMON LAW, as in LAW OF THE LAND, which we all have to obide to is pretty much set in stone. It's a little more complex but it basically means don't cause harm or lossto anyone intentionally. LEGAL on the other hand is a very different storey. When the country went bankrupt last time the national insurance was created as the country was handed to THE PEOPLE, and the NI was for when a person needed help when they got into trouble. A safty net so to speak. It is not used for this purpose today and the goverment, that you elect decides where that goes. ANyways, The legal system was put into place as when a country goes into bankrupcy, until out of debt you cannot make any new laws. The problem they have is that if you do not agree or understand the LEGAL system, it does not and cannot apply. They need your signiture for one. Its alot like taking a loan from the bank, if you dont agree, You dont get. It works both ways! Acts and statutes are all part of the legal system. Drugs act, legal system, Tax & Road tax? Legal system. Getting the picture?

This is why, as some of you may unfortunatly know , the police are very quick to stand over you and make sure you understand and sign that statement. Without your signiture and confirmation they have no power.

An affidavit (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affidavit) is a sworn statement of fact. If you get into any legal issues with a fully signed affidavit, you will see how the otherside cower's as it should state that your a natural being and live in soverignty/by common law and disasosiate yourself from the legal constraints

Simple. Beat them at there own game, At leastwhile you can, 1984 isnt to far away and people dont even relise. Still, least we know what katie price is upto these days.....

Gov't action always increases "crime".

That's their "business model": the more crime, the more money and power.

But I've just been struck by a distinction between right of free speech and copyright. The latter has possibility of income to it (besides that it's a granted right intended to benefit all of society). Copyright has been leveraged because it's profitable -- and to hell with anyone's natural rights if there's money to be gotten. First the terms were lengthened, now the media corporations are getting gov't and other corporations to act as enforcers -- and don't let the latter fool you, they're happy to because of the power and control that comes at your expense.

What's missing now is a *limit* on copyright, and the current trend is not going to end up well even for you who want file-sharers put in an iron box with spikes on the inside. Eventually the control of big media will annoy you too.

overpriced garbage

i think "the most effective and fair way to stop 'piracy'" would be for the media companies to stop charging ripoff prices for third-rate crap
maybe people would be more willing to part with their hard-earned cash especially now the basic costs of living are on the increase.
