The truth is that, at best, you are South American; "America," as you call it, is not a monolith. It's two separate continents with very, very different histories. Now, why are people from the United States called Americans, notably to the exclusion of other nationalities in the Americas? Well, it might have something to do with the fact that, unless I am mistaken, the US was the first nation independent of the European powers. It might also have something to do with the fact that we are, to my knowledge, the only nation in the western hemisphere with the word "America" as part of our official name. Hence, it is quite natural for us to be called "American." You, friend, are Uruguayan, because you are from Republica Oriental del Uruguay, just like someone from the Dominion of Canada is Canadian. I'm not sure why this is so traumatic for you?

As for the whole foreign "pirate" list, I would take it with a grain of salt. I mean, most Americans think these idiots are as corrupt as you folks do...they do have like a 10% approval rating!

Without a global free streaming service showing selected seasons of the American series and maybe some advertisement sponsored moving picture here and there, how will the media companies expect the viewers to get hooked with the latest series and films and order the BR or DVD copies of the products? How else will the local distributors know which series would be worth sending in a particular area for the maximum add revenue? Piracy is a demand generating marketing tool for the media companies and they want the consumer to pay penalties for the voluntary brain conditioning in order be even better customer..

This is exactly the same behavior that the "american" government has had in the past decades towards terrorism.
