I DON'T CARE FOR E-PAPER

I HAVE A PRS-505 SONY E-READER AND I RARELY EVER FIRE IT UP, AND I HAVE CERTAINLY NEVER READ A COMPLETE BOOK ON IT. ACTUALLY I THINK MINE IS FLAWED, ITS BATTERY SEEMS TO DIE ALL THE TIME (GOT A NEW ONE COMING, THANKS EBAY). THE TRUBBLE IS, IT'S A NUISANCE COMPARED TO THE LAPTOP. I GOT A TRUE THIN & LIGHT SA2053T YEARS AGO FOR VERY CHEAP, AND I HAVE READ FULL BOOKS ON IT. THE 12.1" DISPLAY IS AT 1280X800 WHICH IS MORE THAN 100 DPI. THAT WORKS FOR ME BETTER THAN E-PAPER. I DON'T READ OUTSIDE IN THE SUN ANYWAY, IF I'M OUTSIDE I'M DOING SOMETHING ELECTRONIC-UNFRIENDLY OKAY?
E-PAPER = GIMMICK. GIVE ME A LCD WITH ADEQUATE RESOLUTION ANY DAY.
E-DISTRIBUTION = NOT A GIMMICK. THANK YOU, PROJECT GUTENBERG!

WITH NO EXAGGERATION, I GET MORE USE OUT OF FRICKIN' "MICROSOFT READER" THAN THE SONY E-READER DEVICE.

Hope they develop it further

I think it is a telling fact that no-one cared to comment on this article. Somehow people are so much focused on the most popular technologies that they do not think very clearly. I would really love to see paper-like solutions taking the role of computer monitors. I realize that the technology may be not available now. But the point is, nobody treats paper-like appereance as the target for future computer screens. Pity.

I do not say it has to be e-paper. Maybe electrowetting or something else. The idea is to make a reflective monitor of high resolution. It would be so much more comfortable for our eyes.
