There will be no freebies from SUN-Oracle

welcome to larry-land

Hey, Larry Ellison needs to buy a new boat, the last one wasn't fast enough. heh.

re: opensolaris, 99% of the code in there was contributed by Sun. If Larry says "NO", then that will pretty much kill it off. Java stands a better chance of surviving outside of Larry's grasp, as openjdk 6 is pretty solid already, and there are many other interested parties, including IBM and RedHat who have a vested interest in seeing Java survive on its own.

OpenSolaris or Solaris?

AIUI this is to do with the latter, not the former.

Can anyone else clarify?
