197.13 update

The update did nothing to reduce the fan speed. Whenever there is any graphics load at all on the pc the fans still go into overdrive.

When's the last year...

that Nvidia *didn't* have an overheating product?

New Card!

So, how about that 295W TDP on the GTX480? Not only should it put out heat like a hair dryer, but probably sound like one too!

On a more serious note, this issue stings like the whole 8600 fiasco all over again. Just put another tick in the ATI column for me there.

Nvidia, the way it's not meant to be played: http://anime.101main.com/arloth/aion0002.jpg Apparently they don't make good drivers anymore either.

So that's what happened

I guess I should've paid more attention to L'Inq so I'd've known about this.

I've been fighting a progressively collapsing video system ever since Windows Update recommended I install the new driver for my 7600GS.

When it had failed to where Windows wouldn't even start outside of Safe Mode, I reinstalled the original video driver and the machine worked for a week before it started failing again.

I installed a new Radeon board last night, and it sounds like that was probably a good idea: my old nVidia board is probably toast.

How about LINKS

Now all Nvidia need to do is sort out the Driver Conflict which is stopping players of LINKS Golf with Windows 7.
I wonder how many people have already dumped their Nvidia cards for ATI Because they work.

Kill Drivers

LOL they released the driver that kills old video card so they will buy new ones before they had a new product out LOL
