This is just a scheme for some guy to own a new registar. Because all the other had been taken, he wants to create a new one.
I do not think the porn Web sites are asking for this. If they really wanted to have a triple x in their name, they do not have to wait for ICAHN; they can simply replace the triple w with the triple x. So instead of waiting for ICAHN to have a server name www.porn.xxx, they can change their server name from www.porn.com to xxx.porn.com whenever they like.
I liked this idea the first time, WHEN I THOUGHT OF IT and e-mailed the ICANN. (Don't think I can claim 9 years ago though, maybe 3-4 years for me). I just think it should be mandatory though...that if you run an adult based themed website, then you need a .xxx at the end. The biggest reason would be to allow parents to easily block adult content to their children. If parents could simply block .xxx sites, and the ICANN took down any sites that ran adult content (variable by country's laws, i guess) it would be a lot easier for parents to police their children's internet usage. I don't even have any children yet and it seems like a no brainer to me. Not to mention, probably 2/3 of all the malware pages I've even seen, the ones with questionable windows popping up saying "You have spyware, click here to remove it", etc. were probably porn sites. The ones with 500 windows opening automatically, etc. Plus... XXX just makes sense, to me...
For #### sake, what is the point of having .xxx if it is not to become COMPULSORY for adult content??? Another pathetic opportunity to make money when the option to protect children (and others) from this cr@p is there.
I want to be able to block ALL ADULT CONTENT by instructing my ISP to block .xxx and protect my children from it and not rely on rubbish filters that are being circumvented on a regular basis. End of.
If this story is correct then Icann=Idiots. This is pointless and a missed opportunity to do the right thing.

Just by the fact that your creating a place just for porn, essently means you approve of it and no bureacrat is going to want the association
