Fring is not the first!

I have been using VoiP over 3G for at least 6 months - I use Vopium....

Fring is not the first!

Better late than never I guess...

"Users with a Fring enabled Iphone will be able to make free voice and video calls over 3G or WiFi Internet access"... Just like the rest of us have been able to do for several years...

Behold the wonders of a single source app store and everything being personally inspected by your own private Saint.

Although as others have mentioned, using voip via your 3G connection just doesn't make sense! Stick to WiFi connections.

@Dephcon

your "unlimited" 3G is very limited (read the fine print in contract). not sure which is more expensive - a minute of your voice plan or a MB of data, surely you can get free nights and weekends for voice calls. using "free" wifi is no-brainer, only what's the point of a cell phone limited to the range of wi-fi that you can have access to?

@Donna

VoIP over 3G would use your data, not minutes. So if you have unlimited data you'd be getting unlimited calls.

Why VOIP on 3G???

VOIP with 3G:
Slow. Uses up your minutes. Relies on AT&T. Clogs up an already overloaded network.

VOIP with wi-fi:
Fast. Never use your minutes. No AT&T needed at all. Ever.

Tell me again why people like VOIP-3G????
