There is a much easier, more reliable way to get capacity

I have a patent on LTO technology that is much more reliable than squeezing more tracks on the tape with improved servos. What IBM has is 2 dimensional thinking.

In other words, it will fit 700 two hour movies in FullHD, which is a better analogue, and digital.

I'd guess paperbacks. At 2kB/page those 248 miles mean 0.04 mm average paper thickness...

No more tapes, thanks!

Tape systems proved to be unreliable, slow and expensive.
If they are able to store 25TB in a tape, I will wait for such tecnology to be used in hard disks, thank you.

Not exactly Charles. While it set a new record it is just a research demonstration showing that tape has plenty of life left.
