It hardly earns any credibility to call it "a loss" for rambus in the USPTO "case". Every one knows USPTO was supposed to deny all the claims and rework each of them. It is a process going on and on. Maybe rambus will get all the patents reaffirmed in USPTO "case". Who knows.
RAMBUS is probably the 1st to preorder a some fermi so they can sue more companies quiker.... Next they will be suing individuals who have a PC at home or using companies that sell used computer just cause they have memory in it.
Can someone PLEASE create and patent some memory controller technology that will be faster, more affordable, and be proven to have NOTHING to do with ANY of RAMBUS'S patents? Then, can we have EVERONE who produces ANY KIND OF COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY (including cell phones) standardize on this new memory technology so that NO ONE will EVER BUY RAMBUS JUNK AGAIN AND THEY FINALLY GO UNDER FOR THE LAST TIME????
Gonna have to side with Nvidia as the lesser of two evils here. Rambus and the JEDEC go way back, and the story is VERY interesting (worth the research), but the FTC found that the conduct that Rambus used to gain monopoly power over ALL memory was Unlawful (http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2006/08/rambus.shtm) to say the least, and despite the fact that the finding was overturned by the D.C. Appellate court (http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/1137357/rambus-gloats-ftc-drops-antitrust-charges) I'm inclined to agree with the FTC and the lower court (particularly the timing of Rambus' withdrawl from the JEDEC standards body at a time when a similar case was found against Dell over power supplies and their participation in a standards body).
**Being an American it's also heartbreaking that the U.S. government is so morally bankrupt as to allow this charade to continue.***
That's not even in my top 50 bad things about being a yank.
Its memory .. who cares? and its nVidia .. so double who cares? - if they had good silicon which I would be waiting to buy .. then ok .. but they made crap and stole tech to do it.
Like a kid in 5th grade getting an F ..and defence .. why F? .. I copied my answers from him.
Couple of year back I would maybe shed a tear for NV .. now they are falling head over tits to screw up everything made in last 20 years.
...committed by Rambus against fellow members of the JEDEC standards committee will agree that Rambus is the most vile example of corporate dishonesty on Earth. The statement: "Tom Lavelle, Rambus senior vice president and general counsel" says it all. How did a friggin' lawyer become senior vice president of a memory technology company? Tom Lavelle, and all former Rambus members involved in the litigation against JEDEC member companies are the best case I know of for retroactive birth control! Being an American it's also heartbreaking that the U.S. government is so morally bankrupt as to allow this charade to continue.
That decision has been appealed by NVIDIA to the full ITC. The decision last week was made by the ITC judge but NVIDIA has the right for the decision to be examined by the full ITC board

"At RAMBUS meetings, they talk about whom they will sue next."
Sounds to me like Rambus and Monster Cable ought to get hitched.
Meetings at most tech companies usually talks about their next gen products. At RAMBUS meetings, they talk about whom they will sue next.

Good bye NV!

Rambus isn't a company I would want to deal with. Ethically void to say the least.
