No Seymour Cray

Huh. So now it's more important that a computer be neatly laid out than its performance?

When Seymour was designing THE world-class supercomputers of the day, he typically ran wires directly from point to point for speed. Wire lengths were also specifically designed so he KNEW how long a signal would take to propagate. The "backplane" of Cray-Is looked like a bowl of spagetti, but, boy, could those suckers RUN!

But I guess with most IT people having degrees in interior and fashion design versus, say, engineering, looks are more important.
