How fast is this thing?

I7 or not 1.6 MHz sounds pretty darn slow and not worth the effort, am I right?

When they say FIRST?

Hard to pin this kind of claim down I think. Doing a quick check on the interwibble, I can find lots of claims that companies were thinking about it, but these guys actually seem to be selling.

I reckon, in situations like this, FIRST just means that the big corporates need to wade through a ton of red tape before they can make a claim and, in the meantime, smaller local companies with hungry PR teams are already out of the gate and claiming.

File this kind of thing under the same heading as "Inquirer: Better rogister than the Register".

Could have had one yesterday

I was in the MESH showroom when the stores peoplestarted to put them on display yesteday, so could have walked away with one on the spot. Seems like a good deal, but I was in the market for something thin & light and I don't really game, so I went with an Atom powered 10 incher for 1/2 the weight and 1/4 the price :)

Come on you Brits!

Nice to see that one local hero is still swinging

From an army of around 20 companies (including Apricot, Elonex, Dan, Evesham, Time, Tiny, Opus, MJN and many, many more), these MESH guys seem to be the last man standing

I know it's a bit like Curling - taking an interest in something that wouldn't normally interest you but COME ON TEAM GB - we still want you to win

Good luck with that

Last time checked DX 11 was bringing powerful desktops to their knees, so this laptop is more gimmick than a really functional DX 11 gaming machine unless you want to watch a slide show. From the processor in it forget using this laptop as portable, it will suck the battery dry in no time. Laptops have never been very good at gaming and when you try and make one run the resource hogging proprietary DX 11 all I can say is good luck with that.

late..

as usual it will probly take 3 months or more before we in sweden will see any of the top models...

I would very much like a 17" desktop replacement since my apartment is tiny, and by that I mean a DX11 compatible replacement.

The first Dx11 came out before christmas

http://www.notebookjournal.de/tests/notebook-review-deviltech-fire-dtx-nkmo-1073/1/top5

Deviltech had a Dx11 Notebook on sale before Christmas. Even the Envy is late compared to this one. Maybe it is the first British Manufacturer with a Dx11 Notebook.
The 5650 is fairly good but much more interesting are the 5750 and 5850.

I have a DX11 on order

HP started accepting orders on their Envy 15 a couple weeks ago, and it includes a Radeon 5830. That's only for the US as far as I know, but mine is scheduled to ship in 4 days. Not sure if this really is the first DX11 laptop in the world. Might be a tie ;)

£899 sounds pretty cheap

Are you sure it's not £1,899?
