It wil be better to reclaim 2G and analog tv bandwidth and sell it to the highest bidder. No point in having 2G networks when 3G and 4G are there. At the same time government should put tough penalties on networks who do not cover whole uk with 3G to make sure everyone is covered by 3G thereby removing the case for 2G.

It is only a matter of time that almost all spectrum will be allocated to digital comms.

Why are we stuck in the Dark Ages of spectrum allocation? I can't think of ANY mobile application (save high velocity airborne operations) that wouldn't be more efficient over distributed cellular-type networks.

Consumers and businesses will eventually demand gigahertz of spectrum be allocated to their desires, so let's get on with it?
