What kind of statement HP is trying with Envy15

Being the most expensive notebook PC from HP, what statement is HP trying to make? A "hot" (in terms of thermal characteristic) machine with super-high resolution and good portability but poor battery time. Exactly what kind of target audiences whom HP is aiming at? Rich executives don't buy notebook which can fry eggs. Business traveller would prefer the existence of optical drive especially to watch BluRay movies. Rich consumers expect state-of-the-art at that price level. Somebody at HP must be smoking!

Envy 15 - shining example of Bad design!

I totally agreed to the editor's comment on the bad things. 1080p on 15.6" without built-in BluRay ROM Drive is simply ridiculous. The consequent increasae in thickness should be acceptable. Bad keyboard design is a sin for such premium notebook. I think that they should get rid of the eSATA connector because this overlaps with what USB3 can provide. Further, how do you provide DC-power to the eSATA device plugged into the Envy. Not having a USB connector next to the eSATA is another sin. I suspect that the designer also copied the single most common fault of Apple's notebook: high surface temperature. If Envy is made a little bit thicker, the heat flow can improve. Simply put, whoever idiot at HP approve this product should probably be given the pink slip right away. I feel that the best notebook PC with BluRay ROM and high resolution and good portability and comparable graphics performance is the Sony's Z series. Envy as-is has many strength but equal amount of faults.

Was going to buy an ENVY 15 recently but found that it does not come with a VGA port.

Can't see one on the pics above either, so InqFail?

Wow, I would love it. Where is the TV Wireless connection without cables?

TV Wireless Connection - where is this standard? I think it's a good thing so someone should create it.

Would you like to be able to connect your devices to your TV through some sort of TV-Wifi?

For an extra £50 per TV we could easily hzve this. Great for hooking up phones, cameras, laptops, desktops, etc to a TV.

Even for hooking up a bluray player, gaming console etc.

Someone who can please take this and make it happen. If there is money in this then I wish to have a reasonable amount of this!

Reason For Bad Battery Life/Performance

As for the battery life, the reason for this is that once the Envy is unplugged it locks the processor at 933 MHz. This is also known as "low frequency mode" or the multiplier being locked at 7x, which is what happens when turbo mode is disabled. Not only is 933 MHz very low performance, but also not very power efficient since the CPU is unable to throttle down lower than 933 MHz when idle. So you get the worst of both worlds, low performance and bad battery life.

This can be confirmed using CPU-Z and has been discussed at length on thenextbench.com and notebookreview.com. HP has confirmed they have no intention on changing it.

Champlain

Should definitely come out cheaper and just as powerful as i7 since it should clock a few 100 MHz higher.
