David Neal, perhaps your jealousy of Jeremy Clarkson’s success in writing articles has fed your bitterness towards the show "Top Gear" which apparently is a "bore".
What exactly gives you the right to dictate what should and should not be watched on Top Gear, and which insecurities in particular make you feel it appropriate to say It's your business what you do on your lunch break? Is that really necessary when the comment issued by the BBC was simply putting emphasis on the flexibility BBC iPlayer gives viewers of the BBC?
This article was not only useless, but it's made me angry enough to comment, something which I very rarely do - with your clear level of ignorance and pessimism though, I'll make an exception......
David Neal is evidently some pseudo-intellectual who likes to think that he's above such idiotic drivel. Judging by the feedback, how disappointing it must be for the boring old fart, that the majority of people who read his articles are morons such as ourselves. Pretentious w*nk*r!
Jezza & Top Gear are always going to get a bit of backlash from the far-left. And that's what this article is all about. It's the fact that Jezza is so good at winding up the left / PC Brigade that we love him so much.
In the meantime I suggest the author get back into his Toyota Pious ('r' intentionally left out) and hugs a few trees.
Top Gear is over the top. Goofy and even silly at times. That said It's the Best thing On BBC America! All the things your complaining about is what makes it great. If you want the daily dribble about under preforming cars that you drive right now every day then look outside , ask your neighbor. Maybe your Mum even. WE watch it cause we will never get one of these over priced, overbearing, and to be honest The coolest F@cking cars EVER! Truly the only problem is that they don't have enough episode's per season. BELOWEME
Top Gear has to be one of the best shows to come out of the UK since Benny Hill! Are you freakin' kidding me? It's funny, informative, and they tell it like it is, unlike the magazines in the US like MT, R&T, C&D..., that slobber over everything European and Japanese... Long live Top Gear!!!
this is silly and shit i have been watching clarkson since 1989 when i was six years old he is a legand and because of him i won a competition by one point and clarkson was the won who made me win 500 pounds and if he continuestop gear could have a bloody future bbc stop this shit pleaze now!!!!.
I'd liven up James May a bit tho, he can't be that dull or slow, can he? I know he's a straight man to the other two, but still I'd like to see him getting excited and uninhibited some of the time.
Clarkson, big enough to say what he likes, usually at least a grain of truth in it. I like him. I don't always agree with his politics, but he is a likeable chap.
The Short Guy for the ladies, Hamster, he sells a lot of fish at Morrisons.
Top Gear is good, great, and as always every good thing comes to an end, or is reborn. Maybe they need to jig it up a bit, but the core is still good.
I would like to see some slightly more normal, but still exciting cars, on the show.
Oh and Alfa Romeos are unreliable heats of crap, and they are slow crap now. Unless you pick the expensive unreliable one. They were ok 20 years ago, but they are proper shit now. Proper shit.
Alright, alright - Top Gear has *some* value - but those value segments represent 5% of the show's content, but especially these days, are dispersed throughout the other 95% of drivel - making the program a tearful pain to watch, and a bore, yes I agree with that. And Clarkson is a Champion Git (who occasionally tells a funny joke - strike rate ~23%) - I agree with the guy that says only James May is worth keeping.
Funnily enough, I saw a pretty looking boy editing a video in Final Cut Pro on his Macbook in a plane once. Later he pulled out "The World according to Jeremy Clarkson" and started reading that. Mixed messages or what?!
Yes it is a great shame that they re-invented topgear, getting rid of all that intresting car stuff, getting some guys that work well together and are funny yet still knowlegeable.
damn it what ever happened to the good old days, oh thats right, it was crap, and now its probably one of the only things worth watching on TV.
You honestly think the BBC would keep clarkson on TV with his "intresting" choice of words and opinions if it wasnt for the fact that show draws in such a massive rating. No they keep him because they know if they dont there will be a lot of unhappy people and i for one will drop my TV licence like a rock.
Yes they are, I'm a self confessed nerd and also a car guy :)
I haven't watched Top Gear on the iPlayer, last thing I watched was Dirtgirlworld* on iPlayer on my shiney new... sorry the kids shiny new PS3 (psst... don't tell em, they ain't getting it until Xmas).
Maybe the writer of this article is a life time member of the Morris owners club? :-D
Rob
* I wasn't watching Dirtgirlworld myself specifically, it's just my 3 year old was getting fed up with me playing around with the PS3 so I stuck that on as it was the first CBeebies programme I could find on the iPlayer. I'm still trying to explain to her that 2 big penguins and 7 little ones with lots of scrolly text is much more interesting on a PS3.
Sadly I'm fighting a loosing battle. She might be more interested if the Tuxes on the PS3 Linux bootup were replaced with characters from In The Nightgarden, such as Iggle Piggle, Upsey Daisy and the Pontipines.
This is rich, the geeks & nerds on a nerd orientated site dissing a car show.
TG is very entertaining. It's not scientific in their reviews like Consumer Reports or Edmund's, and car guys know that. It's entertaining with great cars hosted by the Marx brothers of the auto world.
Oh, and funny comment about the Ego think with Clarkson considering the ego of this site and the ridiculous flood of invented words.
It's not been a "bore" since they stopped reviewing Citroen Picassos and Nissan Almeras. Where else can one view conkers with cars or a piano being dropped on a Morris? If you want to hear about the air condition on the new Volvo you can be bored with that sort of tedium by watching Fifth Gear on Five.
Aside from Doctor Who and Ashes to Ashes, Top Gear is the only thing worth watching on TV at the moment.
If there is anything I would want my license fee to be spent on it would be Top Gear and not more bollox like Eastenders.
The BBC is the best in the world for documentaries also, and I have to agree with the other comments that Top Gear and the documentaries are pretty much all that is worth watching on the beeb these days.
Don't bother with TV otherwise.
And yes, I was one of those million odd iPlayer users.
...looking forward to flash player 10.1 so I can utilise my GPU to play web video properly :-)
this is interesting, i've read some news recently that they plan to stop TG as we know it as the 3 became too 'cartoonish' - it's shame as this program is the only one apart from documentaries I watch on telly :) - and yeah on iPlayer.
"used to watch repeats of car bore show Top Gear" - bore?
No self respecting geek would say that. Jezza is a legend - heck I even watched him in the 80s (had the same hair then too) on tech/engineering related shows.
And I'm one of that million who watched on iplayer .. saying that, I dont watch TV otherwise, apart from TG.

Bore huh.
Have you watched INQ TV lately?

With spelling like that you can't fool us. You still are six years old in some way or another.
this is silly and shit i have been watching clarkson since 1989 when i was six years old he is a legand and because of him i won a competition by one point and clarkson was the won who made me win 500 pounds and if he continuestop gear could have a bloody future bbc stop this shit pleaze now!!!!.
I roll my Macbook Pro and 300ZX Twin Turbo. You can't catch either:)
Best docus on the planet come from Real News Network.

FIAT = Fix It Again Tomorrow. ;-)
matt, go watch both planet earth, and life, and tell me different.
asto top gear being a waste....thats total bullox, seems that top gear is the only thing worth watching on tv these days.
I can only assume you've always watched British or American television to make a comment like that.
On the subject of Top Gear, this latest series isn't quite hitting the spot is it?
Alright, alright - Top Gear has *some* value - but those value segments represent 5% of the show's content, but especially these days, are dispersed throughout the other 95% of drivel - making the program a tearful pain to watch, and a bore, yes I agree with that. ...unless you're expecting to come away with some sort of useful information, cf. their Tesla Roadster and Hawk HF "articles".
What jason said of the show above is sadly true. It's not even funny any more.
Nothing wrong with Top Gear, unless of course you are one of the overly political correct types with a sense of humour bypass.
So what would the author prefer to watch on iplayer?
Strictly come dancing?
users use get_iplayer (google it)- long live the command line!
I know you're trolling, author of this dumb article.
Yes it is a great shame that they re-invented topgear, getting rid of all that intresting car stuff, getting some guys that work well together and are funny yet still knowlegeable.

That'll be all 10 of them then.
<said fashion conscience man-bag wielding hair-styled mind-less girly boys </said
When the new format TopGear came out back in 2003 it was -
Funny and informative.
Then it went just funny.
Now it isnt either funny or informative.
It's dreadful to watch a once great show that has now become a sad sad parody of itself.
Like watching Aunty Madonna dancing in her knickers again. Stop it!
James May is the only one I'd save from that carcrash.
If there is anything I would want my license fee to be spent on it would be Top Gear and not more bollox like Eastenders.

I can't believe my O2 Broadband connection is throttled down to 35kb/s so people can watch this shit.
Hey BBC, get some proper American series on the TV and stop the effing reruns of everything.
A "car bore show"? Is that supposed to be clever?
Why has the only thing on TV right now that raises a smile suddenly come up for ridicule?
And the public agree so hands off!
What, no Doctor Who on the list? Surely that gets enough plays to warrant a place in the top-5?
this is interesting, i've read some news recently that they plan to stop TG as we know it as the 3 became too 'cartoonish' - it's shame as this program is the only one apart from documentaries I watch on telly :) - and yeah on iPlayer.
