Just dot cn sites ? ...

Or is it that anyone inside china cannot build a web-site any where else in the world on any one elses server?

I'm all for an open internet, but

With China being the new "cheap products" producer there are a number of groups setting up fake shops.
These shops have unique fakes - designer choppers etc - selling them for 5K euro and no product arrives etc.

This move may create some legitimacy in china stores.

Re: It's their country

@Warren: you're a shill.

"China" controls nothing, not even itself.

The "Chinese government" (communist party/CCP) controls China, and exploits a vast helpless and ignorant mass of people for the gain and glorification of itself and its own leaders. It keeps them ignorant to protect its own control.

"China" is a sad place.

Interesting

I will look at implementing a similar system here in Australia.

(It will compliment our internet filter nicely.)

ACTA treaty

obama and his g/f joe biden are pushing through the secret treaty ACTA which is far worse than what the chineese are doing. The chineese are blocking everything while ACTA is putting the carrot out there and then locking you up after you eat it.

yeah, i get to go to jail. fun fun

It's their country

China does control its own future.
The other countries should focus on their own problems prior to pointing fingers.

Obama kisses Chinese Butt

Since China owns so much of our dept they can basically do what they want. Obama isn't going to risk angering the REAL U.S. bankers. He' the worst President in the history of the country hands down. Just a left-wing Socialist pig that's hell-bent on trying to destroy the United States economy. He can rot in hell...

Re: Re: Paritcipatory (sic) democracy has had its day

@Glen, way to go, reductio ad hitlerum in just one message, its got to be a record.

Don't mix technocracy with fascism, to fascists engineering was a means to an end to achieve supremacy rather than a way of life and governance, heavy investment in military technology led a good chunk of it to spill over into civilian engineering. Which btw is what ALL developed countries do these days all the time. Most of the creature comforts you use today stems partly or wholly from military research.
And btw, no one in the higher positions in any of the three countries you mention had engineering degrees, they were all in social, political or legal sciences, same as today. The main honcho who instigated the demise of all those people you spoke of, well he flanked and dropped out of tech school because he wanted to be an artist.
You should educate yourself more before you pass judgment on things you don't understand and compare them to nazis. Otherwise you just make Nemo's claims right (you do vote I guess) ...

Going to backfire

Some dumbass from higher up probably thought it was a good idea and pushed it through; but since the Chinese government is all about economy nowadays it's really hard to imagine them discouraging the growth of the biggest economical wellspring.

Sooner, rather than later, the government will forget it had ever issued this policy and it will get pushed to the list of other policy that's never enforced.

Then again..

Do they get spam? I mean, it would truly show their might and gain great respect of the supreme leaders if they could stop spam.

Re: Paritcipatory (sic) democracy has had its day

"Why not try a totalitarian regime run by engineers and people with science degrees.."

We've been there. Their engineering was wonderful: a marvellous freeway system, public transport which worked, huge cruise ships, unmatched air ships. Their science was on the cutting edge of nuclear physics and chemistry.

They turned the 20th century into an human abattoir with their wonderfully-engineered messerschmitts, zeros, tigers and T-34, their chemistry made zyklon b. The deaths were uncountable, perhaps 20 million all told in various wars fought by the three totalitarian technocratic countries.

We like porn

One and a half billion people, and they're banning porn. By the sounds of the population base there, I think they kinda have their own home grown porn going on. The internet will only teach them new positions.....lol

or they could tech us :)

Paritcipatory democracy has had its day.

Why not try a totalitarian regime run by engineers and people with science degrees rather than "elected" lawyers. It couldn't possibly be worse than George Bush or Sarah Palin. I'm willing to give them a chance. Democracy is currently polluted by ignorant people making stupid choices.

obama giving lip service

obumba is good at publicly giving lip service to popular ideals while in the background pushing through secret treaties stripping peoples and countries of their god given rights making the common men criminals..

Not only China

Sweden is not better. They banned The Pirate Bay, the best site in the whole internet.
In so called civilized world it is illegal to copy a movie or a game from your friend.

People will tolerate a lot of abuses, but taking their porn is crossing the line. There will be major uprisings and the people will crush their porn oppressors!
