Google GPS on Android isn't available outside the US yet.

I take it you were using google maps with your location switched on.

In the UK, CoPilot at £20 is a really good alternative to Tomtom.

The google nav isnt too hot if you have flaky internet connection. It is no replacement for tomtom. It also gets confusing if you are driving in dense areas (it wasnt too great in newcastle when I tried it)

Version 3.3.18 is the latest with navigation available for 1.6 in Android Market (in fact I was notified of the availability of the upgrade a few weeks back). It does navigation quite well and with a few tweaks could easily be superior to many standalone GPS units.

As for other apps, if the only write tap-tap for it... ^__^

The current beta of google maps for Android 1.6 and up does turn by turn navigation with spoken commands. From what I've read, its just as good as a regular Tomtom or Garmin.

There are already tons of iPhone applications that have been ported over and most of the major mobile developers are on board with Android. The number of handsets with Android will eventually overtake the iPhone and will easily be the most dominant mobile OS in the states.

What is the customer satisfaction rating average for this group of products?
