@Anon (4th post)

Suggesting Windows 7 as an alternative is just plain dumb.

Have you not heard of the recent bug with SMB? (The protocol used by Windows file/print sharing)...One can now crash your system and deny you of any Windows 7 love until the next reboot.

The only way to fix Windows is to dump the current crap, and write it from scratch. Focus should be one simplicity and security of the code...This isn't going to happen because it would cost MS tremendous time and money.

*facepalm*

I seriously doubt the Chinese created this one thelmores, if they did they wouldn't have warned the rest of the world about it since they would naturally want it to have as great an effect as possible were that the case. It just wouldn't make sense to rat on a virus you created unless you wanted to bolster your reputation, and in China's case that would accomplish very little in the long term as doing so ultimately addresses none of the issues that contribute to the ill feelings towards the Chinese government.

I couldn't care less...

I use Linux. I advise all my friends and co workers to do the same. If they feel that they are secure using windows, let them suffer the consequences.

New virus? Keep them coming I say !!!

Hey,Regulas.
Are you working for the chinky Sinux OS boys?
Buy a half decent OS...like W7,that way you just boot up & use your PC,rather than sit around scratching your head(wherever that may be).

Yeap...

...It infects Windows boxes.

There isn't much detail on how it works. Just vague comments about adding Dynamic Link Libraries and watching for changes in the Registry.

...Nothing to do with Linux, BSD, Solaris, etc users.

Title should be changed: "China warns of a new virus for Windows"

One Question

Since the article does not specify which OS(s) is targeted I will assume it is Windows.
Just another reason I run Linux.

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
