I'm guessing that like me, you're not a kid at school (although you could do with growing up) and were probably there before social networking really took off. So how the fuck can you pass judgement on the experiences of a 12-year-old being bullied on the web?

I'm sure this isn't just forum banter, but bullying by people familiar to them, probably as a group. There may be physical violence or threats of it at school, followed by a campaign on the net that means they have to restrict their social life even in the privacy of their own bedroom. Not nice.

It is the responsibility of the site administrators and moderators to uphold the laws and regulations of the site but so often this isn't done.

For messaging and chat programmes it's easy to block someone but not to stop them from spreading lies....I don't know a solution for this one.

Whether some person do or don't know that the net can be used for bullying is of no interest here.

Even a person that's never ever used a computer can be bullied on the net, and one of the problems is that the victim might not even get to know about it until it's way too late.
Slander, lies and general trashing of a persons reputation is so easily done, and you can do it incognito.

If you have played online then we have all had smacktalk type bullying, especially when you beat people in games ;-)

Proper bullying, well I have only ever seen that a couple of times and it's been on forums or newsgroups where 2 people are arguing with each other and everyone else is usually laughing or telling them to grow up.

When you can do something without any repercussions, like cyber bullying, then it shows a person's character. The same thing also applies to happy slapping, road rage, drunken assaults etc.

The one thing they all have in common is that the attacker thinks they have little chance of being caught and facing the consequences of their actions. Anonymous Attack.

My daughter was recently a victim of this cowardly form of bullying,it has done more harm than i could even begin to mention.She deleted them immediately but the damage had already been done and of course continued.

This is really really silly if they are being bullied then they should just delete the bullys from their accounts change their numbers and accounts there really shouldnt be this amount of fuss when it can be solve by someone just clickinga few buttons
