Strange...

Doesn't these "bricks" have plastic covers?
How then would somebody get a schock from them?

Boycott

"Sony has initiated a voluntary recall for certain AC power adapters which may short circuit and pose a potential electrical shock hazard."
Sony never does anything voluntary, they got caught. They are told either you pull the faulty items Voluntary or the government will force them to. Its all wonderful PR that they voluntary do when caught.

Sony is bringing us down

Lets see if I got this straight. I buy a Sony laptop that has a Sony AC adapter that can short out, with a Sony battery packthat can blow up, and if I play a CD from Sony I get a Rootkit. Why is anyone buying their junk. Let Sony Die a slow horrible death, and good riddance.

2006 all over again

Sony does some very nice laptops, I liked the VAIOs since I first saw one, except for those half screen electronic-calculator-like that have been popping out last ten years (ultra expensive, and ultra lame don't combine)... but the parts are not making the cut, they should do a rough prototype and start improving their standards from there.

Totally unrelated from the last paragraph, an exploding electrifying AIBO would be a great hit these days! already Sony has those core competences, and it can include maze as an update, that little fellow could be the security guard of every house! maybe the next walkman, (should we start saying iphone?) let the dog reborn!

My two cents.

Shocking!

Thank you inquirer for exposing this Sony cover up. Did they think they can pull another battery stunt again. I bet these power adapters had nvidia chips inside them!

Do you think the move was justified?
