I went onto the 360 yesterday afternoon and went onto the video marketplace to find Sky Player as being a main tab on there. From which I downloaded it and it's been up and running fine. However my friends have gone looking yet not found it :S am I the only person who has it or something? my Gtag is GHJOE14 if you want to see for yourself.
Hopefully, this SKY service will not interfere with normal Xbox360 operation, i.e.: RROD on startup. How reliable can any media service be when delivered through an unreliable platform? Do you still have to pay for a subscription service if your Xbox is away again being serviced?
The update today was for the wireless adapter to support wpa2. nothing else was in the update. The sky will be back no doubt. I looks like it worked just as well as everything else on the Xbox on the launch day..... crap or not at all.
1,000 test users? are they serious? how difficult would it have been to take the number of xbox gold etc subscribers and derive a REALISTIC! test number! no wonder the system fell flat on its face! isnt this one of the reasons why windows vista nearly rumbled them? not enough testing of an already sub standard system?
watch this space folks, if this is the quality of microsofts commitments to its "services" you can expect the twitter and facebook launches to be a potenial massive failure as well!!!
i heard it got pulled because some users weren't able to connect and others were getting poor connections, mainly due to microsoft and sky not realising how popular it was going to be, and microsoft didnt want a product that didnt work properly dammaging their reputation, so decided to pull it completly until it does work.
So , did it either,
1. hose the rest of the system.
2. allow anyone to access sky-tv if they copied some flimsy password?
3. Crash servers due to not testing with enough users?
4. Allow peeps to save vids to disk, which could then be copied/ ripped?

This was Sky Player Vista.
If you want it to work, you have to buy Sky Player 7 as well ;-)
Xbox Live Sky Player is now working!

A service being pulled suggests you won't see it again. From what I gather, the service hasn't been pulled as it will be coming back!
Maybe the use of more accurate wording is called for!!
was that wat the update was for cause i updated it and nothin has changed??

Sky Player SP1. Maybe they have beaten their previous time record for issuing service pack.
