I'm in my 30s now, but as a teenager most of the phreakers in the city of Houston were using NASA's PBX (it was codeless) for making long distance calls. This was going on for years, until one fine day I read a report in the Houston Chronicle about hackers running up millions in NASA telephone bills. The number to the PBX remained the same, but required some access code to dial out. By that time, ANI (caller ID) was introduced so no one dared to touch that system again... at least no one that I knew did.
It really doesn't make a difference to them, as the whole system is paid with tax dollars.
What did they do with the $100+ millions of dollars used to fix this problem some 4 years ago. It looks to me the security problem are the incompetent people paid to fix the problem and never did. I guess this is what happens then you hire your buddies to do a job they have no idea how to do. It is the corruption in the government that is the real security risk.

Probably because they have the same budget allotment as ethiopia's military. The gov't is wasting all our money on bullshit rather than NASA so our space program is a joke and their security is too.
