I totally agree that "the dev team" have opened up more market for apple iphones than Apple would normally have sold.
I as an example bought an iPhone only when a friend confirmed that, he unlocked and jalibroke his iphone with a software from http://www.iphoneunlockingprogram.com
With this confirmation from a friend, that is why i decided to buy one and did the same as my friend did using the same software.
"... you wouldn't deliberately put diesel fuel in a petrol-engined car and then insist that the manufacturer should have to pay for the repairs, would you?"
Reminds me of a story told by a friend who used to work at a gas station...
One day an old man drove up in a Volvo Amazon and began to fuel it up. But there was something wrong... he used the diesel pump!
My friend went out to the man and told him he was using the wrong fuel. He was also offered help to empty the tank before filling it up with petrol.
The man had filled about half the tank with diesel, but refused to empty it. Instead he just topped it off with high octane petrol rather than the low octane he normally used. Then he drove off.
About two weeks later he was back, and the station crew was eager to hear what happened when he used 50% diesel. The reply was that the engine (Volvo B18, for anybody concerned) had been going a bit rough, but otherwise no problems!
So, no need for repairs just because the wrong fuel was used... :-)

I am only considering an iPhone because it can be cracked.
There is no way I would otherwise.
I'm still reluctant though because I detest iTunes of old when it used to infiltrate it's host computer and take control of many functions and file associations. Not sure if it still does, but it did years ago and I have refused to use it since.
I have not jailbroken my iphone yet. But if the lunacy Apple is serving up with the app store rules doesn't change soon (Especially the totally unfair Slingplayer fiasco when Orb does the exact same thing and is allowed on 3G) I very well may jailbreak my iphone.
Ironically, the Dev Team are the enemy of freedom.
Because of the Dev Team, Apple (cursed be Their name) can sell DRM-infested crap to people who have no intention of obeying the licensing conditions. Many of these people may be buying an iPhone *only* because they know it can be cracked.
Without the Dev Team, Apple (cursed be Their name) would succeed in Their attempt to lock down Their hardware. So nobody would buy it. So they would either (a) go bust, or (b) be forced to bring out a legitimately free version. Either way, everybody wins.
I accept that "so nobody would buy it" is a weak link in my chain of reasoning there. But I do believe this theory may explain why Apple (cursed be Their name) havent tried *too* hard to stop this.
i was using a i phone 1.1.4 version i uploaded the version 3.1 and now it is locked so just tell me what should i do to make it unlocked

I believe there are many folks out there like me.
(Off topic, but funny and interesting.)
