Never die Completely

I do see a big segment(namely those who don't know how to operate a computer other than surfing the web/office users as those who would potentially buy netbooks.. Then I see corporate offices buying cheaper notebooks. Then you have your average joe who wants a decent integrated chipset)....

The other segment is made up of diy guys and gals. Who understand computers and like to build there stuff with custom parts...

Then you have those who like to understand becasue they want to build them. You also can't tell me that the larger segement will not eventually buy a desktop once they learn them like the guys and gals who built theres. There will be eventually a segment of the bigger population(once they understand them) will won't to build there's as well boosting sales just abit.

The only way that I see laptops beating desktops is if they have an integrated gpu that can perform like a gtx295 etc...

Only Because ...

... laptops are not as easy to home construct as desktops. Once "white" laptops proliferate, portable sales will drop too. Well, not Apples, no self respecting fanboy would be caught with a product not personally spawned by El Jobs.

Do you think the move was justified?
