I hope Nokia lives up to these words cause the iphone was the biggest load of crap ever my old N95 whooped its ass.

Cant use your own ringtones you need to buy them from the itune store even if you have the original cd with the song on it you whant to use. cant bluetooth, cant mms, its got a shitty camera. and every time i updated my phone ut froze so i were without a phone for a few days.

Common Nokia You Can Do It!

Only time will tell if it is an 'iphone killer' or not. For now I'll just say it surpasses the iphone in many ways :

- Desktop-like experience
- Impressive camera.
- Debian based.
- VERY HIGH resolution for a phone, 800x480 is really something, mainly if you want to browse the web comfortably.
- Well designed multitasking.
- Great interface.
- Open Source
- Firefox is supported and a port of OpenOffice seems to be planed also.

For me it deserves every penny of his current pricing.

The [overrated] App store is not really a feature by the way, who would want to pay for 'farting apps'? If people are dumb enough to pay for useless apps, good for them and good for Apple, I prefer free apps (that would also be ad supported ones actually) myself.

They don't care Nokia, with the n900, is redefining the notion of mobile device with this fabulous OS linked with the excellent OMAP3 (found also on the Pre and iPhone).
I'm impatient to see if Firefox mobile is able to plug Gears from Google (the plugin management is present, but on the beta2, you can't charge any plugin. Just "URL fixer" installed by default).
If so, it would be really a premiere on a smartphone: the use of disconnected mode for online applications...
I'm impatient to try this amazing open and truly original product and I hope it is the first of a long and successful serie!
It's a discrete and so attractive innovation. What shines isn't always the most interesting and useful!

...especially regarding the substantially higher spec'd hardware, and proper desktop OS (Debian Linux).

Business phones don't have such rich multimedia and social notworking capabilities.

Nokia doesn't decide for you which apps you are allowed to install.

And any music can be drag'n'dropped from any OS - no extra bloatware required.

Was the tag line chosen as a publicity stunt. Not in my dreams can I imagine any product to be "iphone killer" so soon .To Kill the product also needs to beat the APP store . How do you think nokia would do that ?

The N900 is a business phone, a completely different market to the iPhone.
The N97 mini is a cut down N97 to help it get onto the cheaper tariffs, although with the original N97 already available for £0 on £35 a month tariffs I'm not sure of the point.
