Its a bit slow, but the key word is MDADM. Got one working a few years back, it was very stable. Although maybe the slowness had something to do with the 233mhz processor .. ARM. Yeah it was Linux, I don't think Windows could muster such a feat. A nice thing, its not tied to a raid controller, I can and did transplant the array to a faster machine. No fuss, it just worked.

On ide & sata HDD head only can read or write, better is SSD Potential to read & write at Same time, not waiting in buffer cue as much. Plug just indicates type of controller, so bit of exag, yet controller is spot where data is taken & prepared for final destination, especially improved SSD one,be great.
Encrytption is like taking every 8th letter & making new sentence from that, hard & standardize, like controller might pass bits about thru gate timing & command. While true data encryption is manipulation of dsata in similar way, changing it, then rewriting it back thru process or code that forms true data at other end or intented for useage.

on ide there are bunch o' parrallel lines out, if one breaks not big deal, it was for having multiple streams go to multiple place with exact same data, like printer, display, keyboard & mouse all interacting with stream. yet you could clip into one pin for data stream & get whole thing, Hardware encryption in controllers.

S.ata use d.ata opps, mistype, data that is broken up, so NO one line is same as others at any one time . its faster & assembly in/out is faster,having seperate dedicated lines less prone to massive overkill, buffer overrun everywhere & more delicate.More capable of running near BURST speed of HDD yet it is even more encryption of data thru controller, asemebling one coherent stream into guts. Now if Mike Where Charlie, ori f Charlie Where Mike, is two very differnt events upon what was once two people, just outcome is very differnt. What ever happened to Ole days ,when data traveled upon ONE wire, Like Cable or Dsl, still does. ide is basicly encryption scheme to sell hardware, so are ALL of data storage & delivery of today, in own unique controlled fashion.

Previous:one line at, something, little better, ok faster & too fast, all set parameters within machine itaelf. only question is rate & voltage.
