I got the new Storm2 9520 and is much better than the old one. The firmware has fixed several problems und bugs. nice job blackberry! *thumbsup*

Devil Da Husky you are an idiot. There are two Storms because one is for Vodafone which is not CDMA and no WiFi was not diabled it wasn't built in at all. VZW does not care if it has WiFi or not because you have a Mandatory data plan. They will get paid regardless.

Christopher Estep...you would want WiFi on your phone to connect to your home network and do things like print wirelessly and communicate with other devices...laptops, cameras, ect.

one good thing you could do with wifi on your phone is have voip. So if you are traveling outside your office, outside your network, or outside the country you still have a number you can use to make and recieve calls and not be charged international rates.

erm... no I can't tell you why YOU would want wifi on a phone, I don't know you.

I can tell you why I do though - my phone is in my pocket at all times, my laptop won't fit in my pocket. TBH, I don't really get netbooks when I have perfectly usable internet on my TouchHD.

PS: Look up the meaning of the word "legacy" - it doesn't mean old.

Could someone tell me why I would want WiFi on a phone (any phone, including the iPhone or any BlackBerry)? Considering the falling prices of netbooks (or even legacy laptops with XP or Linux), if I absolutely need WiFi, wouldn't that be better suited than having it integrated into a phone? Most of thee reasons bruited about for the requests for WiFi are to avoid those pricey data plans when at home or at free hotspots. Excuse me; those same hotspots are all based around wireless-G or around a specific provider (either AT&T Mobility or, in some cases, VZW or Sprint when not based around wireless-G). If it's G, the connectivity is often built-in (or available dirt-cheap) in even legacy laptops; if it's provider-specific, you can still get connectivity options for cheap or nil (both AT&T Mobility and VZW offer USB connectors for their respective networks free with any data plan). In any case, there are much better options (that are available today) than praying for WiFi in a smartphone.

Ahahaha.. WIFI? Something that old? Reminds me of the iPhone fanboys all crazy about MMS functionality, something Nokia had in my old Symbian brick since...2003....

The Storm 2 will of course come to Verizon and of course have it's wifi disabled and removed as with the first Storm. :/ Why do you think there's two Storm models? The 9500 and 9530. The 9530 is Verizon's version.
