What a crock, I work for Nokia and while its true that Nokia employees can take advantage of Apple's corporate discount program, the iPhone is not included in this program. Just as well too if recent posts on the Apple forum from iPhone 3G users with warm hands turn out to be true.
No it's not BS, Nokia employees don't get a discount, however a special 10% discount was made available for employees in 8 countries. Even with the discount though you could still get the thing cheaper off Amazon. And Nokia shops don't seel iPhone, but Apple do give nokia staff discounts.
Clever.
This piece of "news" is complete B.S. Nokia does not offer staff discounts, and Nokia shops (at factories etc. and internet) certainly do not sell iPhone.
You do know guys that Nokia won't sell their own phones directly to their staff. What happens is they are sold on to external suppliers and their staff get a tariff and a phone from the external suppliers so the Discount is from these guys.
Seriously its cheaper for a phone + tariff than for just a phone if you have not already noticed.

The N97 is one heck of a phone -no I don't work for Nokia-
The camera is pretty amazing, but more importantly it's the battery that never seems to run out and the physical keyboard that have me completely sold.
One heck of a phone indeed.
If you don't care much about aesthetics and care a lot about using a phone for what its meant to do and quite a bit more, I definitely recommend it. The Iphone is very flashy, the n97 is simply a better PHONE though.
-No I'm not Mr. Farrell either-
There's this thing called the qt toolkit that the iphone uses for it's graphical interface.
Who owns said toolkit and recieves fees from apple in exchange for commercial use of the toolkit?
Nokia.
That's who.
You're a little misinformed about technology to be writing stories like this.
Hype up some irrelevant garbage and get onto google news. Great.

Most of the people I know who work for Nokia (in Finland), do _not_ pay anything for their phone. What a FROG this news is.

Those who bought the Iphone will head the next crisis driven lay-off list. O maybe nokia staff know how crap Iphone is.
I wonder.
And what discounts for a Nokia are the Apple staff allowed.

Familiar with any of the following statements?
"Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer."
/Michael Corleone - The Godfather Part II
"It is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles..."
/Sun Tzu, The Art Of War: Chapter 3
Maybe it's a tactic so that employees experience their competition and hopefully develop better products?
maybe the Apple junk has a bigger profit margin than Nokia's...
Er... why?
