I would not buy a foxconn MB (in anybodys brand) I'll put up with delays ASUS may encounter if this article is not pure FUD.
If Intel cut ASUS off of the channel then I'll just go with AMD.
AMD is starting to look strong in Graphics and even in their newest low-cots Quads the 620 & 630 which I think will be a real hit with consumers around Christmas.
On the other hand Intel just launched laptop chips that consume 25-45 watts and even the 95Whr battery on it only lasted just over 2 hours and that's a brand new battery!
Being a guy that's been building his own since i ditched my Commodore Amiga, the ODM market has really been a roller coaster ride. Keeping tabs on return/failure rates while listening in on customer service nightmares....
Asus has become a victim of their own success. To combat that, they branched out quickly into other areas and have done VERY well. I esp. like their Netbooks.
Not so sure that Foxconn can really do Intel any justice. Their motherboards have ALWAYS been lackluster and with a price point that makes them easy to skip to move into something a little more performace oriented. Still, Foxconn products do offer a baseline for the rest of the market to pummel. So we'll see.....
It seems to be quite a leap to conclude that Intel would be atop the "price structure in the motherboard market" if they only make "around 6 million" while the "own-brand MB market is about 70-80 million a year" and "Gigabyte and Asus sell some 19 million each"
Foxconn Was Bottom Rung Maker. Yet, Sometimes Bottom HITS New idea. Msi was First with Integrated Graphics in 2003 with Game Union. Recently, Foxconn has stepped to Middle Ground of Advanced Mains.
Asus, when Dust Clears Has Finer Product. Take its bios O/C Add On Stuff, Today. Wowie. Beyond dfi.
Asus Owns ASrock, where Limits Go Further Out & Failures Occur. Neither are of intrest to Intel. Intel One Thousand Dollar System & Saves You Half Cent Hours By Cutting 50% of Juice Out. Yet, Thats reliability Test,Too.
At Least INTEL Isn't Planning On making Their Own Mains. When Intel Breaks, It Never Runs Again. So Vpro Natural In Long Life Arena.

Can you say: Sweatshops!?
I AVOID FOXCONN AT ALL COSTS!
DOWN WITH FOXCONN!
Yep, Sylvie's stories are better than most - both entertainment- and grammar-wise ("Asus'"... haven't seen that for a while).
I do enjoy Charlie's rants, though.
Isn't Sylvie 'Charlie In Disguis'(TM)?

Just by "Asus to get a motherboarding" I knew I simply must read this article.
Sylvie = upping the inq game(tm)
I hope you're paying her well!
