DDR3 was 2,3,4 times more expensive than DDR2 for a long time.. but now it starts to reach affoardable levels.
I think if I was to replace this system with a new one, I would go for 8 GB or 12 GB. Depending on dual or tripple channel memory controller. But 4 GB modules seem a little rare so far.
