Went there on Sunday, spoke with this 'RavMan' character and asked about the Z-Drive.
He disappeared around to a build area and returned with what looked like a 1.5x deep graphic card (i.e. not quite double height).
My hand have held the 1TB and my eyes beheld the future.
Must have looked trustworthy, as they did not lock the door when I had it :~)
It was almost with a sense of shame that I purchased the 80GB backup drive that I went there for.
Dream on F2G, dream on...
BTW: How long (any guesses), before this level of storage is on a USB Pen Drive/Key Chain as a 'giveaway' at a show ?
I love reading drashek's comments most I can read and understand in a single pass. Occasionally I need to read more then once. They brighten up my otherwise dull day.
If you can afford a car, you can certainly afford this product.
I would go for RAID 0 of 4 256GB x SSD instead as Ashton mentioned. Its cheaper but more bulky. But definitely possible but in my case I wouldn't add an additional SATA controller, I would use Nforce owns, onboard.
I have to disagree with you lot.
How can anyone call stewie von drashek a noob?
He is a living internet anomaly, there is only one 'pilot inspired' Dr. S'vonDrashek on the internet…no imitations
He can leave comments anywhere leaving experts scratching their heads on billions of topics(including but not limited to medical marijuana and viagra).
Millions of people encounter drashie every day, and have done for years.

How many people do?, there isnt a jesus christ extension, or a mohammad extension for firefox?

Drashek is a PSYCHO, whose only job is to make people go insane with his endless non sequiturs. Repeatedly trying to comprehend his gibberish can lead to serious headache, loss of memory or even coma. If you don't believe me, see this:
Actually, all of you arguing about this are wrong.
Firstly Drashek, yes some OCZ SSD using JMicron controller can be woefully slow on random writes. However this unit is based on 4x Vertex drives with Indilinx (sp?) controller with 64Mb cache, which has been shown to finally resolve the stuttering issue (caused by random writes) of other non-Intel MLC SSDs.
Nathan: Drashek never mentioned access times, 0.2MB/s would be for random right throughput. It was Ashton who mentions access speeds, who by the looks of it also mis-interpreted drasheks comment.
Maybe the first time that Drashek actually made more sense than the rest of you ;)
The product sucks cos you can buy 4 256GB SSD HDDS and RAID them with a dedicated hardware controller for cheaper and faster perfomance.
and Vondrashek, please tell me that was a joke right? since when did raid improve access time? it improves read & write performance, or fault tollerance, or both. NOT seek times, that would be impossible. Back to raid school for you.
And back to comment school to learn you only comment when you know what you're talking about.
Although it has RAID, in recent article, tester Stated: with numbers so low as .2 Mb/s on some OCZ SSD Units, by actual test- NO Amount of R.A.I.D. will actually improve performance.EVER.

anyone who pays these obscene prices is a fool
if consumers shun the technology then prices will come down and purchasers wont feel like theyve been kicked up the arse by a 20-ton mecha-horse
the technology is only being developed for the sake of it not because there is a demand for it

No one NEEDS 1TB of RAM (or whatever you want to call it), but you JUST WANT IT
Like someone offering you the chance to shag the fattest bird in the world
No matter how much more attractive a skinny model might be, there's a part of all of us that just wants to 'experience the extreme'
Z-Drives are a 10-Big-Mac-Meal-a-Day slapper from Newcastle...
...you just want to stick it inside to see what it feels like...
...and can then brag to your mates about it :~)
Thats an aweful lot of money for a drive that I do not believe is bootable and why on earth are they only using a 1x pcie slot

Heh heh. I'm so used to Drashek that I can spot his writing in a few words and just skip to the name to confirm that it is indeed nonsense.
Sir Clive, I liked your C5, I think that it could probably do with an update and some Li Ion batteries.
This is flash memory, not RAM! 1 TB of RAM would be much, much more expensive! And it probably wouldn't fit in that volume either.
Dammmmmm, that is fast.
Dammmmmm, that is expensive.
But what kind of RAID is it?
Amazing.
Really amazing.
Remember when core speeds measured 4.77MHz and system memory was upgraded in kilobytes?
Buying a system with 1TB of RAM is just amazing to me. Who would have thought it would happen - and so quick ?

gimp.
The statement that "NO Amount of R.A.I.D. will actually improve performance.EVER." seems totally ludicrous.
Seriously as a long as a drive can read and write, RAID0 configurations are capable of speeding up access speeds, no matter how neglectable a margin.
If you wanna' see some SSD RAID0 action, just search "Samsung SSD Awesomeness" on YouTube.

Considering how bloody expensive this kit is, I would've thought it'll be a good idea to point out the warranty period on this beast.
People will be pissed off if it turns into a useless brick after just one year.
