RE: 9400?

While I get what funkymonkey is saying, VP has the right idea. If anything, they should be striving to put the specs you just said into a cell phone, not a netbook. Technology advances forward, not backward...

And btw, the 9400 is anything but meek, it's actually very decent for what it is (integrated GPU, not dedicated). I mean, I've seen the 9400 outperform a few entry level gaming laptops with dedicated cards (grant it, low end, but impressive nonetheless). Unless you're comparing a desktop GPU to an integrated laptop's... in which case, yes... meek is a good choice of words...

yawn

whatever you want funkymonkey is not always what everyone else wants. YOU get a clue. in order for netbooks to actually evolve, they need to step forward graphically. the geforce actually manages this, without compromising battery life too much. in short, it brings more functionality while minimising the loss of netbook advantages.

everything you just said can already be bought. so just shut up and get on with it, buy it already and let others with more interest in the advancement of the technology talk here. next you will be saying how much you love CRT monitors and floppy drives and how we shouldnt dare try and advance them. get with the program...

LOLer

kinda sad they don't up the MB hardware specs more. the 12 inches is nice for the keyboard combo though. what saddens me is the 720p hd statement. these are netbooks not mini-theaters. its nice but really, its for email and web sorts.

9400?

Yes because we all want less battery life and better 3D (as meek a a frikin 9400 is) on a nettop! Get a clue dude. MSI just made a shit 12" laptop, and you want better 3D GFX. Clue in.
I want the return of the netbook, not these bullshit mini laptops. Give me my SSD, 9" screen, and 6cell battery. Oh wait thats the eeePC 901, and it still isn't topped. Oh wait maybe we should put an 9400 in it so it can be shit!

9400

better than GMA945 yes david. but it wont get close to the geforce 9400 in the ion platform next few months. so this is why MSI are ignoring ion then, going for a larger 12 inch platform. i think its a mistake. for all charlie's nvidia hate, ion looks a better solution.

he knows that nvidia IGP is currently in another league compared to the best intel have got.

i would take a 9400 over GMA everyday of the week, even if it costs a half hour in runtime from maybe an already impressive 7 or 8 hours the netties can do. 9400 is much faster for games even with atom i suspect (not exactly important but still - i game on mine!) and far more capable for HD video decode.

Nice step up from Netbooks

"Sadly, the Intel GS45 chipset with GMA 4500M graphics is more snooze than news worthy,"

Better off than GMA950, though not really in power consumption.
