The court process hasn't begun yet

No court of law has been involved in the EU situation yet so it will really be more interesting at the next stage of this process rather than the commission part.

Thank God for the EU

I don't know why any of you are hating on the EU. They investigated the issues that were raised not just by AMD, obtained evidence which they have published from various sources and showed in court- evidence Intel could not dispute. AMD did not pay off officials, for starts it barely can keep paying its staff, and secondly the EU is far less corruptible than the US system, it's just too well regulated, over-regulated some may say. I think you also forget that Intel also has Fabs in the EU, i know of Ireland's, but probably in Germany as well. Therefore Intel probably give more money in tax to the EU than AMD does, as Intel is more profitable. The EU has balls in regards to abusive practises, just like South Korea and Japan. I wonder why it is taking so long for a US court case? will it start in 2010 or 2011? was it not started by a federal judge, rather than your competition commission? wasn't the MS competition ruling over-turned by the new president? Mark you should do some reading before making outlandish and foolish comments.

AMD. The rollercoaster chipmaker

AMD is the THE rollercoaster chipmaker. Why? B/C of the Up's and Downs for this co. Hell the make very good CPU's. Remember the K6-3 chip? Or better the good old Thunderbird (with the magic number of 1Ghz) or maybe the Athlon FX. Yeah what times eh? Will AMD ever learn from their mistakes ever? I mean they have the Tendency of making a good chip ONLY on the second TRY. Why I say this? Remembre the SLOW K6-2 eh? Or the first bread of thunderbirds that tend to overheat (Ohh that infamous Tom's Hardware video) and could not be overcloked (yeah I know at least 200mhz were possible but with a super heat sink). Well AMD did it with the Phenom too and they got now a nice Phenom 2 that works oka. Now will they ever ever learn? Hey AMD keep doing Black proc w/ unlock multis and bump those MHZ to 4GHZ and Walla. They will get a better chunk of marker and thas for sure! Just a thought.

analog guru

It's amazing that the AMD fanbois act like AMD is the "shining white princess" on the hill and Intel the Black Knight. When AMD had better products they took a large MSS from Intel. They rested on their "arses" got cocky and then made some of the worst execution ever seen. As far as the EU, well guess where AMD has its FAB lite...uhhh yeah right Dresden.
You are dreaming about the FTC or the lawsuite. In USA AMD cant pay off the officials like in EU.

@AMDer the 1st (it's story time!)

First off: gratz AMD!

Russian proverb:
Ivan was rich and had a pig. Boris was poor and had no pig. Poor Boris found a dirty lamp, and when he rubbed off the dirt, a genie (or djiihni, or whatever) appeared. The genie offered poor Boris one wish. Boris thought a minute and said, 'I wish Ivan's pig were dead.'

The moral of this story, other that Russians used to be so poor that owning a pig made you rich and genies only gave one wish, is that it's a poor man who wishes ill will on others, rather than elevating himself.

I see a few 'gratz AMD' posts here, and then there's yours...

Finally

its about time things are starting looking up for AMD. I think one of the main reasons for the loss of money is Intel's manipulation of the market. Mark my words, if the EU fines Intel and the FTC also find Intel guilty, AMD's market share will be much larger then has ever been seen. Keep it up AMD!

Best news of the year!

And that's just the beginning. With EU fine coming in Intel's face very soon, we'll have a great headline to drool on very soon...

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
