Gyno

Given how wealthy he is he should REALLY look at getting the gynecomastia fixed. Indicative of previous steroid use?

Who knows.

NYS government is a criminal racket.

Neko, sure, it's okay as long as it's not YOUR money. I cringe everytime I look at my pay stub seeing how much this useless parasitical government in NY steals from me for NOTHING in return.

And I'm surprised he hasn't been hit with a sexual harassment lawsuit, too, techfeminista. Given how intolerant of that most female state employees are. But then, the bureaucratic "old boys" network will protect him, like they do most of the others.

money well spent.

considering the `rip` that `dr. nano` gets - lets assume that he holds the position for 20 years at a constant salary - i doubt it will be that long, but hey it might increase over 10-15 and hopefully this is a reasonable estimate _in_ _todays_ _dollars_ : 13.92 million

out of a grant from NY of almost a billion, this is barely over 1% - well within reasonable range.

its money spent like THIS that will make something like mit a stepping ground for futher progress...

Payin' for it...

Surely the students do pay rather mightily for the "privelage" (ahem) of studying there! No?

Amazed

I've met Alain through work and frankly I'm surprised he hasn't been hit with a sexual harassment suit. I pity his female underlings who keep silent and put up with his sexist attitudes because of who he is. Granted he has a brilliant mind but his ego is larger!

Alain no saint

Dammit, Sylvie, you were in Albany and didn't call me? Now my feelings are hurt.

Just to provide balance, Alain is not universally loved around here. He's seen by many I know as a charlatan, who's bedazzled and gamed the NYS legislature into wasting taxpayer monies to benefit private corporations. Plus, he hasn't won too many local supporters because of his insane public sector pay, plus what private corporations pay him. $646K is only part of his monetary compensation. Plus he's rather arrogant and condescending, but then why not? He's fleecing the public sector successfully.

And from people who've actually had to work with him, he tends towards tyranny.

The Free Market In Action . . .

Repeat after me "I, the American Tax Payer, commit to my Billions of Tax Dollars being spent on research and technology which is then given to corporations so I can buy the products I funded."

All hail the market!

BOOOOOBS!

@horadrum, yes he could use a bro or a manzeer. One would think that one would take better care of themselves on a freaking huge salaray like that.

If I saw that guy on the street that looked like that I'd probably give him a dollar.

Wow...

I live right down the road from this incredible facility, am more interested in nanotechnology than anything else, and I think I've seen his Ferrari around once or twice (certainly catches everyone's eyes), and all I can say is...

That guy has boobs. I'm mean look.

White Balance

Sylvie, I suggest something called "white balance" correction on those incredibly yellow photos.

Do you think the move was justified?
