Regulas is making the point that he is not having problems using ubuntu since ubuntu is using an open source PDF reader by and is not plagued by this problem.

The ironic part is that so many honestly believe that opensource code is inherently less secure then proprietary code. The one thing that is little understood is that yes someone can find a flaw quicker in OSS code but it can also be fixed just as quick. Anyway most people who like to hack and crack are usually anti-establishment. Who better then to bring down the fat cats in their ivory towers. Opensource is by the people for the people (mind you once the developers of OSS realize that OSS will never be taken seriously until they develop for the lowest common denominator ie: dumbassed lobotomy volunteers then Linux will always be low market share).

Regulas knows what he's doing too bad so many "Techies" come to this site and bitch about how sucky linux is... in my mind if you consider your self a tech then you should be ashamed of even making one negative comment about linux. If it is too hard to get working for you then you are truly not a tech so realize this and find a different career and let the real techs do the work.

The real problem here is why is Javascript even part of a portable document format to begin with? It's a damn document, not a webpage. This is just furher proof of the ineptness of Adobe. Soon they'll be packing Javascript into their Type 1 font format.

My security problems/worries have went drastically down. The new Ubuntu 9.04 running fine my Acer laptop now. Working fine and no proprietary drivers or software on my rig. There was a problem with the trash not showing in the can but the auto update fixed it. This is much nicer than Vista that came with it, I let Ubuntu wipe the drive after I made restore disks so if I want to sell it one day I can put ME II back on.

Ah, so after the patch is issued, Reader will not crash anymore. Well that's good news then!
