The article doesn't say Linux is UNIX. I don't know where you got that from, unless you misinterpreted the title ("conversion" here means "from Unix" not "to Unix" in this case, as is clear if you read the actual article again.)

For a poster on a tech board your reading comprehension is, well, about average actually. i.e absolutely horrific.

Linux is not Unix

Linux is a "Unix-like" system. It doesn't contain any code from any real Unixes such as BSD, and it isn't Single UNIX Specification certified.

For a tech journalist your grasp of technology is horrific. Have you ever considered getting a job with the BBS as a technology correspondent?
