err yeah...

Wow that really is some serious sycophantic fawning, and I've got ATI graphics cards at home and at work!.

And as for this ... "you know how much time he spends caring for his family, and unlike many, how seriously he takes that responsibility." ... Hang on, "unlike many, how seriously" ... WTF?! ... that's a hell of a statement directed at many people. What makes you say that with so much bitterness?

The only explanation I can find for so much bitterness directed at so many, is that you are describing your own childhood experiences. I guess from your usual attitude they deprived you of attention, which fits with you bitter snide attitude you generally show especially since NVidia deprived you of attention and didn't want to speak to you. I guess anyone depriving you of attention reminds you of someone close.

I feel sorry for you Charlie but you really need to get over it. Look at it from NVidia's point of view, they wouldn't want to speak to someone so obviously hostile at everything they do. You are just pushing people away, including some readers who can't sit through your usual NVidia coloured barrage of bile.

ATI

"Cypress is going to trounce GT300"

I don't really care.
Nvidia is providing far better drivers for my linux home PC so I'm sticking with them.

As someone who's first boss at ATI was Raja, I can attest to the fact that he is an exceptionally good boss to work for and always a role model for any who have worked with him.

Good luck Raja!

I heard

that Jen is the exact opposite. He eats babies and chains employees to desks forcing them to neglect their families.

Nvidia is the most anti-everything (anti-competition, anti-family, anti-matter) company there is, or so it seems from Charlie's rants.

@ steve

I find it a nice change from the rabid and juvenile Nvidia fanclub that has taken over the comment section at Inq.

It used to be amusing and insightful here.

@ fanboys: Note that ATI has made a big comeback of late so, even if you love NV better, you should be able to appreciate that the current ATI is putting up real competition.

If Raja was a part of that change, you should be grateful.

He's part of the reason your latest NV card cost as little as it did for the performance, no matter what the label was this time.

ati group meeting?

at least 3 of the comments in this thread are from ATI employees. Is this like a meeting place now for company Execs?

Chris is Chris Hook, ATI PR guy.

Jon C is Jon Carvill, AMD guy.

Eric D, is Eric Demers - ATi engineer in California.

Read into that what you will

Raja is gone ?

Im sure Raja is lovely and im sure he is great to his family, but seriously Charlie why the hell is this news to anyone?

This article however is a wonderful indication of how far up the rear end of ATI you really are. You have turned the inquirer into your personal blog about how Nvidia are Evil and ATI are just a bunch of nice, lovely, friendly people.

I wonder how you can sleep at night pretending to be a "journalist" when really you are nothing more than a PR guy for ATI.

Cypress is a semiconductor outfit. Just go to Cypress.com. I think AMD likely had made cross licensing agreement with them. Wireless, maybe?

Just like you can't compare GT200's scalar shaders with RV7xx SIMD shaders, you just can't compare GT300's MIMD (if it's MIMD) shaders with GT200's scalar shaders. You can't say it's 112.5% more when you don't know the efficiency.

Like Marc Tremblay whom have skill designing Microprocessor is left SUN for Microsoft. I think Raja will help them to make new Graphics Processor for next generation XBOX.

HayMarket In Blackout, It Was Once Nasty Spot....

Pitch Dark, Playgoers Thumbling Over Each Other-=HAYMARKET=- Pretty Much Same Now As Then. Heres bit on 300:

NVIDIA GT300 promised in October 4/20 datetime:222
A real monster seems to be taking shape at NVIDIA. The companys next big graphics processor looks like a leap ahead of anything current-generation, the way G80 was when it released. It is already learned that the GPU will use a new MIMD (multiple instructions multiple data) mechanism for its highly parallel computing, which will be physically handled by not 384, but 512 shader processors. The count is a 112.5% increase over that of the existing GT200, which has 240.

NVIDIA has reportedly upped the SP count per cluster to 32, against 24 for the current architecture, and a cluster count of 16 (16 x 32 = 512). Also in place, will be 8 texture memory units (TMUs) per cluster, so 128 in all. What exactly makes the GT300 a leap is not only the fact that there is a serious increase in parallelism, but also an elementary change in the way a shader processor handles data and instructions, in theory, a more efficient way of doing it with MIMD. The new GPU will be DirectX 11 compliant, and be built on the 40 nm manufacturing process. We are yet to learn more about its memory subsystem. The GPU is expected to be released in Q4 2009.

Charlie's 8-ball shows that ATI will trounce NVIDIA? Man, that's something new out of that camp. I guess we'll have to believe such a totally unpredictable and well-founded analysis.

Do you think the move was justified?
