Apple can't even get these things to survive reliably in consumer applications, ie. moisture damage in even modest humidity environments. How are they going to ensure they work in the extremes the military experiences in the field?
I think this is just PR hype to attract new recruits...

Lawyers? We're not afraid of your stinkin' lawyers!
Very nice, I know.... except I really don't think the US Army gives an owl's hoot what St. Eve of Jobs and his evil phalanx of writ-armed vultures (lawyers) thinks or even if they can think.
One pass from a Thunderbolt II (A-10 Warthog) and the fruit house is history. Then send in a squad of soldiers to make sure there are no survivors.
Ahhhh... just imagining the sounds and sights of that lovely GE GAU-8/A Avenger 30mm gatling gun pounding on Apple HQ...
"Since they do not have to pass their software through Steve Jobs, they can do what they like with them and develop military applications." - yeah just wait till the Apple vultures (lawyers) get wind of that and start suing cus of that iKILL app doesnt fit in with its luvvy-dovvy fruity image.
all sorts of apps are coming to me now.... iKill, iGotmyHeadBlownOff and iDrone (on and on)
