When I upgrade my laptop and desktop I'll go AMD again.
I had the AMD K7 500Mhz and the 4800+ or something.
I didn't have enough honour to resist the C2D E4400 2ghz which I've clocked to 3ghz. And I picked up my laptop 2nd hand for nothing.
I keep thinking of BT3's intro text "Inviting good karma to CPU" :D
curious - I think you missed this line from the article :
"Strange then, Mr Brigham, that Intel – a company sued left, right and centre for unfair business practices, which does its utmost to stomp out any hint of competition (see Japan, Korea, Europe) with a chief executive earning $12.7 million a year but professing sadness at having to lay off between 6,000 and 8,000 of his staff – should find itself on that list."
I think between "6,000 and 8,000" qualifies as massive amounts of people.
I don't dispute that Intel is successful company with profits in the billions but that is certainly no reason to lay off thousands.
Bash the money grabs from the goverments around the world all you want, but to criticize the pay of a CEO who runs a succesful company is a bit off.
For comparison look at the money one Mr Ruiz STOLE, umm.. 'earned', from AMD during his years of running AMD into the ground. Look at the bonus he got when he was forced to sell off the fabs, ummm... 'form a subsidiary', to the UAE. Look at the CEO's on Wall St. I have no problems with Otellini's pay as he runs a successful company employing 80,000 people - if he were losing billions, or taking handouts from Obama, or laying off massive amounts of people then question his salary.
Ethisphere is clearly a company that sells moral whitewashing to its wealthy benefactors.
"Do you have sticky legal issues? Negative publicity? Need to boost your tarnished image? Pay some money to us, and we'll give you a bright, shiny halo!"
Shame on Ethisphere, and shame on those in the media who fail to question such practices and point out the moral whitewashing.
Then we have HP who performed illegal wiretaps on members of their own board of directors and found various executives under indictment for it. That is quite an example of ethics in action isn't it ?
The Ethisphere Institute certainly demonstrated exactly how clueless they are. I guess it could be that they just don't keep up on current events. I don't know.
McDonald's is there too. Possibly due to their contributions to healthy eating, usage of animal fat and claiming that they use only vegetable and other benefits to society.
Looking at the 2008 list I was nodding my head as I went through it.
2009 looks ok until you cross the above.
Well done to Cisco ... two years straight.
Why no IBM ?? Of all of the tech companies out there I could not believe IBM didn't top it? Can you please investigate ??
I'll send you some more cheap cpu's if you promise to buy 1000 more (with the sideways rebate discussed in the self destructing e-mail I sent you 3 weeks ago) and not buy any of my competitors.
Also can you please not display any products using the following greens:
Green = C: 100 M: 0 Y: 79 K: 0
Green = Pantone 347
Green = R: 0 G: 153 B: 102
Green = 009966
There are no ethics in war and love...
Anyways, here is another way of looking at AMD vs INTC

I'm ashamed to use an Intel CPU, honestly.

And hurrah for the INQ! :)

... are like assholes; everyone's got them.
That's what this INQ hack has been doing recently.
...put it past them to have paid --heavily-- for such award xD
Simple.

What is America to me?
A name, a map, or a flag I see;
A certain word, democracy.
What is America to me?
...
Frank Sinatra
And this fair and ethical system has been enforced worldwide.
The Ethisphere Institute has been recognized for its ass kissing.
Their reputation is in the drain, that's for sure.
