That solution only apply to user than don't use other software than office.

OpenOffice does work in Windows as S. Ballmer pointed out...
Also to answer you security concern, the cool think about open source is that it's OPEN SOURCE if people put backdoors or crappy code then other people correct them... If microsoft puts backdoors or crappy code in office... Only microsoft can see the code and correct it...

Also with your great fix comes the lack of incompatibility with 99% of all 3D intensive games on the market.

This patch also fixes all other known (and future) Windows security problems, and supplies OpenOffice. Highly recommended.

If you just want to delete MS office and "patch" Windows (not as secure a solution) you can just download the Windows version of OpenOffice from:

http://download.openoffice.org/

Looking at the Interop-Ability advert above, (the one with the car) I'd say he's the one with the cock-up.
