regulas, i'm not sure what are you talking about. i have 24' dell at same resolution and 4870 512 runs everything just fine. any additional grunt is symply not needed as "playable" performance is already reached. shhet, upgraded several month ago from old 8800GTS640 and i wasn't blown away with difference, somewhat noticable but not day and night.
whats my point? simple - if you to play othe game on two new cards in question, you will not be able to tell which is which. you arguing about single digit precents... moot
all the recent hardware is there already. period. now start lowering the freeking power consumption.
I have a 24" Samsung monitor and run all my games at 1920 x 1200 using a XFX GTX 285 on a Q9650 rig. The over hyped 4890 can't keep with my card at that resolution. OK liquid cool it so you can OC it, I can do that too, big deal, I am talking stock.
PS Fallout 3 is one of the best I have ever played, better than Mass Effect, Crysis or Far Cry 2.
{H]OCP has a review out that brings up an interesting defect.
Quote "Overclocking the memory was an interesting process. First, we increased the clock by 100MHz to 1075MHz, and the video card was unstable. So, we lowered it down to 1050MHz, and it was good. On a hunch, we increased it up to 1100MHz, and it was still stable. Then we set it to 1075MHz, and it was unstable again. I then increased it to 1150MHz, and it was stable, so I turned it as high as the Overdrive panel would go, which is 1200MHz, and it was still stable. Curious, we turned it down to 1075MHz again, and the computer crashed and locked up again. Back up again at 1200MHz, it was all roses. It was a strange experience, to be sure.
Thus overall, we landed at 985MHz for the GPU, and 1200MHz (or 4.8GHz) for the memory bus as our fastest stable overclock. This is shown in the Overdrive screenshot below:"
When looking at various reviews on diffent websites I notice they all seem to top out in the same area as he did at first. Would be interesting to see WHO ELSE COULD OVERCLOCK THE MEMORY LIKE THIS.
sigh, do you seriously expect any but the saddest of individuals to plough through that lot ? You could have given us an overall conclusion and the average scores.

Nvidia GTX 275 and 285 is clearly winning in the highest resolutions with AA and AF

Let me know!
That the 4890 is clearly beating the 275&285 at the resolutions that count. Or does every nvidia owner have a 30 inch panel?
