@Mark_G

Before calling other people stupid better re-read your rant before you post next time, especially the bit about the sales figures. You do have a point though, and I am sure the PS3 will be a long term seller once they drop the price. Just look what happened to 360 sales when the lowered the price around 6 months ago. Since then, it outsold the PS3. Go figure, check the numbers if you don't believe me. By the way, I think it's great both consoles will probably succeed on the sales front this time. Never mind the Wii.. Cheers

@ JordanNE

Clearly you have been fooled into thinking that PS3 is not selling well, by the Microsoft PR machine, it's there to trick the stupid.

here is the reality for you.

PS3 = 21.3m consoles in 2years in Europe (2.5 in US) = ~10.5m a year

360 = 28m consoles in 3.5 years = 8m a year

Go figure, PS3 has sold 2m consoles more in the same timeframe as the 360, at a higher pricepoint, AND competing with 2 other consoles.. (360 had no competition for a whole year).

I would stop listening to Microsoft PR machine if I were you, it makes you look stupid..

60GB vs 120GB

the Elite is a good buy for first time buyers like me :3 I got the elite on launch day. it was worth it since I never owned a 360 and at the time the price difference from the 20GB vs the 120GB was HUGE. now that they offer a 60GB drive the difference it's huge but still there. keep in mind that the 120GB drive alone costs $140 and the 60GB is $100 and also, the elite comes with an HDMI cable. I know it's not that big a deal since you can find these cables online for about $15 or less depending on length but it IS a convenience.

@CC - HDMI

All Xbox 360s produced since mid 2007 (including the Arcade bundle) have included HDMI.

Chipsets are the same across bundles as well.. the base consoles are all the same across all bundles.. the differences are in the included accessories and color.. (except the newest Arcade models have built in 256MB flash memory now which the other consoles lack)

@CC - HDMI Correction

TO CC: Not so - I have the standard (not Arcade) 60GB Xbox 360 and it does come with an inbuilt HDMI connection - I use it to connect to my screen.

HDMI

Another feature the elite has (other than the 120gb drive) that the other models don't. is a built-in HDMI slot, I believe it also has a different chipset.

@jason

Each game you install uses about 5 gigs. I have 15 games and can only have two installed at a time.

Xbox originals use about 3 to 5 gigs and quite a few I would like to play i.e. Psychonauts, Fahrenheit, Stubbs the Zombie. I know I could buy the discs but the thing is so noisy when playing off the drive + some games are really hard to find.

I'm not sure there's a big arguement for 60 vs 120 but certainly there is for a reasonable priced upgrade from 20.

Please explain...

....the reason for the 120Gb HDD?

You cant save your own divx files to it. You wont have 40 downloaded movies stored on it. Extra game content wont take up that much space.

The only benefit is you can now transfer the game DVD to the HDD but thats not exactly the be all and end all for having it surely?

Total waste as far as I can see.

Two things. . .

1) Mark G you are clearly a moron, do you even know what games the XBOX has coming up this year?

I doubt it.

Nobody over the age of 15 gives a toss about console wars so go bitch and moan about PS3 vs XBOX somewhere else.

Sad act.

2) The reason no-one is buying the Elite is it's a total rip off. Now that the pro or premium has a 60GB HDD the only reason the Elite is priced higher is a bit more disk space and it's black.

M$ need to seriously start trying to think of some decent features to add to make it worthwhile.

And for F***s sake drop the price of the 60/120GB hard drives. I would have probably bought about 4 or 5 XBOX originals by now if I wasn't stuck on a measly 20GB drive.

Well played Sony for letting people use whatever hard drive they like in the PS3.

Wow... Fanboy much? All 3 consoles have something going for them. The 360 still has unrivalled third party support, as all main titles are developed on the 360 and ported to PS3. With MS with a lot to reveal at E3 in July, don't be so certain.

PS3 is not selling great, but has some fantastic exclusives coming this year. And we shall see where Nintendo takes the Wii this year.

Also, bare in mind that games that are exclusive often look better than multiplatform games as they are designed to take note of the consoles limitations. Killzone 2 is probably possible on the 360, but with some of the bells and whistles removed.

As a maths processing unit, the Cell PPE's are pretty damn unstoppable. But, the 360 has 3 3.2ghz PowerPC CPU's and a strong unified architecture. So don't go writing it off! :)

Limited Edition soon enough

Those that are still working will soon be resigned to the cupboards anyway, I mean look at the total absence of anything worth playing on Xbox in 2009...

Xbox is 2007 news, PS3 is where everything is now at, it's pushing games better than anything the Xbotch could manage (Killzone2), and the 2009 lineup is stellar.
