Worth any risk

"Since the adapter is battery backed, failure isn't much of a problem, and the power saved is worth any risk."

What kind of statement is that? Worth any risk? The data is obviously valuable enough to require RAID, so it's certainly not worth "any risk."

SSDs as cache

If you're using OpenSolaris, you can already plug in a SSD and use it as a cache for a bigger and slower storage array. Search for ZFS L2ARC to see the full details.
