"NOKIA has found a plaice in the record books after one of its phones was found working after a week inside a fish."
"Glen Kerley used Cheatle's SIM to make the call to a number he found in the address book"
...If the guy only used the SIM to make the call; then that has absolutely ZERO to do with the phone itself.
Does the writer of this article even know what a simcard is? Doesn't seem like it.
It's no surprise that the simcard would have survived a dip in the ocean and a stay in a fish's belly - those little cards are tough as nails.
I'm really happy for the guy. Replacing your phone can be such a haddock it often takes a whale of a time to get it all done. It leaves you feeling kelpless until you do. Still with all the press you have to wonder if the guy did it on porpoise. Sorry, had to.
I just read it again and noticed they took the SIM Card out, I *MIGHT* buy that still working. But the headline "Nokia phone works week in belly of a fish" is completely misleading, I severely doubt the phone itself was still working.
I accidentally took a dip in the atlantic with a car alarm remote in my pocket. It was fully corroded inside by the end of the day from the salt.
I call BS on this. No way would the electronics have survived salt water. What "Sea" was this? And even in fresh water, I've heard of phones pretty much dying instantly from being submerged.
this story actually looks to be true, turned up on the web last week.. happened in N.I.
The fone would turn on but that was about it...
the sim lives on in another handset, the nokia HAS had its fish 'n chips ;)

I really am enjoying the technical huff posters are being put in by this story.
It's a freakin story about a Cod fish man, it's a cod fish story.
You can't beat these stories with a stick. They rock.
I am having a really hard time not making a fishing pun.
omgosh this is torturous.
