Maybe he had an iPhoney and he changed the battery and that's what injured him?
Perhaps if Apple had made the batteries replaceable then owners wouldn't undertake these tasks and the risks associated with them. Perhaps it's a clone. Perhaps it's another brand. But lets suppose it's an iPhone, maybe Apple should consider making the battery replaceable so that owners don't put themselves at risk. And maybe someday in 2009 The Inq will fix the comments paragraph bug.
I'm surprised those Apple defenders are so upset. Isn't it common knowledge that cheap substandard iPhone knockoffs are the order of the day in China? This picture has substance to the article because it's talking about cheap substandard mobile phone batteries.
Which kinda rules out iPhones, doesn't it..? So, your iPhones may earn you the irrational hatered of the Nick Farrells of this world, but - hey - at least it's not going to kill you. The bloke worked in a Lenovo shop, apparently, so I guess it's just luck, that he didn't set off a chain reaction.
More fruitlover ruffled feathers, but not sure why - after all, the item is clearly marked "Iphoney," rather different than the genuine Ifoney product. Chill, fruits.
It isn't funny that people get hurt or killed with phony batteries, but I had to laugh at the play on words. Now off to iWork to earn iMe some iMoney.... (iGone)
Your hatred of all things Apple has reached new lows. The man had put a new battery in his phone, so it clearly wasn't an iPhone, yet you still put a picture of an iPhone in flames in the article. Grow up.
Being Chinese you'd think he would be more careful as that's where the exploding batteries have been coming from...
This case was caused by his home made GUN dropped on the floor and ran-off, wound his neck artery. Nothing have to do with cell phone, battery.
I'm not really convinced people can get killed by an exploding battery anyway. Serious burns maybe, but death is pretty unlikely.
I reckon it's some sort of insurance scam. I mean, there was that guy who cut his own foot off and tried to claim an insurance pay out.
