Google at one point did have a gmail drive that did not work for a long time. I still have mine and use it to store important files that I might need to see from anywhere. The only catch was that I had to dig deep into the internet to find the google shell files it needs in order to be configured to your pc. With a little time and patience, I finally found these shell files and have been using this services for almost a year. So, to end my point, it isnt a myth.
