I was in the US Marines and I can easily understand this happening. They are obsessed with making personnel and equipment rosters. There is rarely anything that ought to be classified but there's always a great deal that should be confidential. I hated how my social security number, full name, and date of birth was constantly being put on Excel spreadsheets and passed around to everyone(especially given how many Marines have extensive families in Mexico in need of spare social security numbers). There are also spreadsheets for equipment with serial numbers for accountability purposes. Probably millions of them are produced every year. They are to make sure that nobody leaves behind a 3000 dollar radio or infrared scope. A clerk(generally someone who is too stupid to do the job he was trained to do, like drive a tank or whatever) probably used his mp3 player as a jump drive and forgot it was on there.

Why cant I get my hands on one of these things? Great stuff always happens to someone else. hehe
Poor guy ... he'll get shot by some high strung Yank spook or maybe they'll shove him in Guantanamoooo and call him a terrorist cus he has access to secret stuff.
Or better still they could do a "Gary" on his ass and extradite him for hacking charges and then he'll have to prove that he didnt hack and some SS (not that SS but the SS - sec. service) idiot lost it. poor guy. I would sell the info to the highest bidder with the most terroristic sounding name - MABUS (see online for ObaMABUSh)
