Inverter?

Solar power is usually created DC and then stored in batteries using a charge controller. An inverter wouldn't be much use for charging batteries because it converts DC to AC. You'd then need a transformer and a rectifier to charge the batteries. Perhaps you meant they get rid of the inverter and have a DC power supplies for the servers?

Yeah I find some of the ads here pretty damm annoying too. I don't support adblock though - sites have got to make money to keep running. Some of the flashy ones on the inq really do go a bit far though, often have to disable flash.
