Internet is cheaper

Still, I'd prefer Internet 100% of the time. You hardly can "overdose" and at least you won't need to sell an arm and a leg (or parents' house) for being addicted.
However I think the chinese government has no interest in interfering here (apart from the censorship) - people become more subductive and content while browsing, and they are less likely to become criminals. It fits The Party's propaganda machine nicely...
