3G Services has been started in very few palces in India,it would be great if instead of going for 3g we directly make a quantam jump to 4g in a year or a year and half time
Man, do not complain about no having 3G in "some parts" of your country, we dont even have that here! (Venezuela). So.. when i read 3g, 3.5g, 4g, 99g i just have to think: i hope THEY enjoy that!
The news is that Swedish TeleSoneria and its Norwegian NetCom operator, is the first operators to order 4G Network equipment for commercial use. But as it says, it wont be in operation until (probably late) 2010, and at least the last said operator is still far from having rolled out (in quantities) 3.5G outside city cores with 80k people.
I'm guessing you mean first LTE network. There are over 400 WiMAX (another 4G technology) deployments worldwide. Have a look here: http://www.wimaxmaps.org/

since when has 'rolling out' meant 'if all goes well it will be available in 2010'? Just utter crap journalism.
4G: Theoretical speed 100 mbps
3G: 3,6 mbps - 7,2 mbps (3.5G / 'Turbo 3G')

Jeremy Schultz, that wimax map does not reflect the reality...
Mobile WiMax has been done in Russia too. Available since Nov 2008.

Shetland .. hey at least you got ponies!
Any word on what bandwidth this implementation will offer?

I thought XOHM WiMax in the US was already the first 4G provider...
Many parts of the UK (including the whole of Shetland, where I live) don't even have 3G yet.
Our service providers are a joke...
