Useless Info

It's almost like me saying you'll emit less CO2 by not breathing. Go do some real research, or blow your brains out to save on CO2 footprint you twits.

Great study, very scientifically conducted, but

Whether I do a Google search or not, those servers are running 24/7 and being updated all the time, so I fail to see that my search is going to be all that important.
I would like to know what the cost is of NOT doing a search - while no one is searching (does that happen ?) those servers are idle but still drawing power. What is the impact of that ?

Would having paragraphs in the Comments affect CO2?

;-)

All we need is to take Nevada and turn it into 1 large solar panel, it would provide enough electricity for the whole planet.

I'm sure the science behind this is full proof

Just like all the other global warming science that proved that hurricane activity was going to get even worse (the exact opposite has occurred) and that the arctic ice might entirely melt THIS YEAR (its thickened up to to levels not seen in a couple of decades).

Wake me when Googling causes sunspots. Then I'll worry.

Always fun to watch the left wing nuts attack each other

Google CEO Eric Schmidt is an extreme environmentalist, and the journalists can't get enough of this study. This is the third time I've seen someone report on this. It is always a pleasure seeing the left wing nuts attack each other.

I wonder how much electricity I used up to post this comment? Add in the electricity that will be used up from the people who read it and it would be equivalent to boiling one endangered spotted owl! LOL!

CO2 < Electricity

As far as I know a nuclear power plant doesn't generate any CO2.
And a wind turbine doesn't even use heat to generate electricity.

It is how electricity is generated that has to change not using less.
Although if we use less it will be easier to make this transition.

and then there's...

...those closet Stalinists cluttering up the landscape with trees. I for one am sick to death of all the grotesque and quite possibly slimy growths that the botanophiles plant everywhere so wantonly. It took centuries of hard work to rid our land of these unsightly and dangerous leaf droppers, but now our ancestors are just being spat on with green thumbed contempt.
Has anyone been brave enough to uncover the shocking figures behind the tree planters carbon footprint conspiracy?

INQ Poll

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
